Summaries from the brand background, customer materials, and dated FDD used for this episode.
Mathnasium’s history brings together education entrepreneurs Peter Markovitz and David Ullendorff with educator Larry Martinek. The first learning center opened in Los Angeles in 2002, followed by franchising through a predecessor in 2003.
Students receive an assessment, a customized learning plan, and live instruction. The service focuses on understanding math, with staff tracking progress and communicating with families.
The owner leads a local learning-center business and teaching team. The Mathnasium Method, training, curriculum, materials, and management software support delivery and daily organization.
The FDD’s Item 7 gives an estimated initial investment of $112,936 to $149,616 (first learning center). Includes minimal improvements and four months of additional funds; excludes owner compensation and royalties from that allowance.
The 2024 revenue discussion covers 853 U.S. franchised centers operated by the same franchisee for at least 12 months by year-end. Centers without the full qualifying period or complete reporting, and affiliate centers, are excluded. Gross receipts are not the owner’s take-home income.
Reported revenue comes before the costs of running the business and is not owner profit. Historical results do not predict what a new owner will achieve. Use the current FDD to explore the expenses and operating assumptions relevant to your plans.
